In any research paper, it is critical to use good research to support the claims being made and to correctly cite this research. In the humanities and liberal arts, the style most often used is MLA, which stands for the Modern Language Association. The proper acknowledgement of sources might seem like a no-brainer, as indeed it should, to a scientist, and yet there are altogether too many instances where improper attribution goes unchecked.
